Related to the item about double checking resistor band colors. I have found that color variations from one manufacturer to another can cause problems too, to the point that I often double check the resistance using my inexpensive multimeter. I don't expect it to be super accurate, but it will tell me if I am seeing a color wrong.
I am part of the Cool Tools network, so it's not directly my call. We just recently moved all of our newsletters here when our old NL service went OOB. We did not know at the time that the move was controversial. I have started a discussion among the team about it. I certainly understand the concern. We'll see what happens.
